Main Purpose
A Duty Manager will be the leader having accountability and ownership concerning managing and delivering productive, effective and innovative solutions for Integrated Facility Management Services, focus on the daily routine cleaning services, floor restoration and Waste Management. The ideal candidate will have a background in either the delivery of Housekeeping Services in a hotel or Soft Services Facilities Management with experience in large scale contracts such as shopping malls, residential towers, schools, banks or offices. He or She will be an individual who fully understands the delivery of exceptional detailed quality outputs and has the ability and foresight to balance operational requirements and expectations of the client.
This position is highly dynamic, requiring 80% of the time to be spent in the field conducting inspections of the airport terminal.
Accountabilities
- Most of the responsibilities, specifically 80%, will involve being present at the terminal for site inspection and participating in audits.
- In this role you will be the ‘key account owner’ of customer and stakeholder relationships to truly enhance our partnership relationship with our airport client.
- You set an example by physically demonstrating and training various cleaning services, including floor restoration and cleaning of washrooms and toilets.
- Design the operational structure and plan of the department and implement it.
- Manage the Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements relevant to the contract/department under your control and provide progress reports as and when required by the Senior Management team or client.
- Ensure full compliance in terms of soft services operational delivery and sustainability.
- Build and develop strong relationships with vendors and suppliers and support the Procurement team with all procurement process needed.
- You must work in 3 x different shifts (morning, afternoon and night shift).
- Manage, communicate and promptly coordinate with the subcontractors, including those for technical repairs and maintenance of machinery, high access cleaning, and waste management.
- Plan and prepare rosters / schedules for every location and its assets there within and ensure consistent implementation of the same.
- Organize and plan needed resources for peak business period during daily operations as well as seasonal spike in travelling such as summer plans or Eid, Winter and Summer plans.
Operational
- Design and implement emergency plans, including harsh weather contingency plans for rain, sandstorms and flooding.
- Manage restoration projects as well as assist in the site visits of potential new projects.
- Perform spot checks, inspections and audits to test quality of services provided in line with the SLR/Client expectations or additional request’s during VVIP movements.
- Support business development through recognizing the opportunities to extend the contract with our client and the preparation of proposals for change orders, extensions or amendments suitable for contractual gain.
- Leading a diversified team and demonstrating continual motivation of the team to deliver an exceptional quality of service output.
- Maximize, always restore and sustain the life of client assets whilst providing a quality of service solution through understanding and upkeep of building assets and the associated cleaning solutions that are involved in maintaining those assets.
- Support the design and delivery of the Soft Services Platform as a method to mature the organization
- Actively involved in the recruitment of custodial staff, including Area Supervisors, Operational Team Leaders and Janitors, identifying suitable and appropriate manpower resources to contribute and support the company growth, profitability, vision and mission.
- Ensure Work permits, Method Statements, JSA - Pre-Job and Post Job Risk Assessments, COSSH are in place and updated for all work performed by employees reporting to the role of Soft Services /Precinct Manager
- Ensure all Custodial employees under their control receive all compulsory HSEQ training in a timely manner
- Ensure all chemicals used are approved by the HSEQ team by means of a MSDS and COSHH sheet and finally approved by the client.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Hotel Management or equivalent
- BICSc certified (British Institute of Cleaning Science) or
- Certified Cleaning Manager by leading cleaning organizations of ALEGRIA/FIGR Germany
- Extensive/advanced knowledge in chemicals and pH values
- Extensive knowledge in floor restoration and crystallization (marble, granite, sandstone, limestone)
- Extensive knowledge in cleaning equipment and latest technology in the market
- Extensive knowledge in using different cleaning materials (different types of industrial cleaning pads, diamond pads)
- Executive Management - minimum 10 years of job-related experience in Cleaning Services such as Airports, Commercial and Retail Sector, Cruise Lines where customer excellence underpins the quality of all operational outputs.
- Five (5) years’ experience managing a contract in a 24 hour per day, 365 day per year operation. Said experience shall be in a comparable position managing no less than sixty (60) employees with experience in the airport environment and operations.
- Must have experience in the Project Management field.
- Good working knowledge of High Access/Rope Access Cleaning Services and related matters will be an added advantage.
